چکیده

Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) features a specific type of “user-generated content" that involves spatial data. Geobrowsers are environments that present spatial data dynamically and can be accessed through a compatible browser. A Geobrowser can own a collaborative Web system to collect VGI. This paper presents the ClickOnMap, a framework to develop collaborative environments in Geobrowsers in a quick and standardized way. The framework has an architecture to document VGI and supports the generation of metadata following the rules of a dynamic metadata template for VGI called DM4VGI. Thus, the data can be interoperable with other systems that do not use ClickOnMap. CidadãoViçosaMG is a system to collect VGI about Viçosa city that was developed from ClickOnMap. The VGI collected in this system was documented using the DM4VGI template. The paper presents a quantitative analysis of VGI collected and of dynamic metadata generated to assess the usability of ClickOnMap along with DM4VGI.

Title Not Required the Wikification of Geospatial Metadata

For decades, metadata has been the ever-present, cure-all solution to heterogeneous data integration and use. Yet, high-quality, ubiquitous metadata is extremely rare in practice. Current volunteered geographic information systems may provide insights on how the scientific community can produce and manage metadata for geospatial data infrastructures.

DM4VGI: A template with dynamic metadata for documenting and validating the quality of Volunteered Geographic Information

Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) is a Web phenomenon known as “user-generated content”, which involves resources from Web 2.0 and geographic data. Geobrowsers are websites that collect and provide VGI. These systems, however, do not follow norms or standards for data collection or documentation, which makes it difficult to recover such data and limits the interoperability among VGI sy...

Quality Attributes & Methods for VGI

The widespread use of GPS-equipped devices such as smartphones and tablets and the easy handling of online maps are simplifying the production and dissemination of volunteered geographic information (VGI) through the internet. VGI systems collect and distribute this type of information and can be used, for example, in cases of natural disasters, mapping, city management, etc. In some cases, the...

One aspect that has not changed is metadata. Static spatial data quality descriptions we...
